WHAT'S IN MY WEEKENDER

In the past, whenever I planned a weekend getaway, I would overpack. Seriously, I'd pack like I was going away for a two-week trip and inevitably never wore half the things I brought. I found it actually made it harder to get dressed because I had too many options and it was exhausting lugging it all around. Over the years I've simplified the necessities depending on where I'm going, what I'm doing and of course, the weather. This Friday I'm heading to Baltimore for a girls weekend of low key fun and hangouts. We'll mostly be eating and drinking our way around town and smothering a friend's new puppy (can't wait to meet you, Theo!). Even going away for a couple days, I make a checklist of what I'll need/what the plan is so I know what to dress for.

Packing List:

  • a pair of jeans
  • a loose, casual dress
  • a pair of shorts
  • a skirt
  • a fun top
  • a couple t-shirts
  • a set of running clothes
  • pj's
  • undies and bras
  • a pair of sandals
  • an easy sneaker
  • running sneaks
  • toiletries (face wash, moisturizer, night cream, sunscreen, toothbrush, contact/glasses, deodorant, etc.)

Outfits are truly like cooking recipes. You have your main ingredients plus the staples, like salt and pepper. Sunglasses and jewelry are the salt and pepper of your outfit. They add some zest and bring out all the other flavors in the recipe. The majority of these pieces are interchangeable, which is another plus of planning ahead. I'm all about comfort, quality and feeling your best at all times. It just makes for more time spent having fun and less time wasted trying to come up with an outfit on the spot. Also, it leaves some space in your bag to pick up new things too ;).
