ZOOM ELITE 9

I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF NIKE'S ZOOM ELITE RUNNING SNEAKER. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE VERSIONS OVER THE YEARS AND WAS NERVOUS TO FIND OUT VERSION 9 WOULD BE A COMPLETE DESIGN OVERHAUL. STILL, I HAD TO GIVE THEM A TRY. OVERALL, I'M STOKED TO INTRODUCE THESE BB'S INTO THE ROTATION. HERE'S THE BREAKDOWN.

THE ZOOM ELITE 9 GIVE YOU A CUSHIONED, LIGHTWEIGHT AND RESPONSIVE RIDE. I FIND MYSELF ON CRUISE CONTROL WHEN RUNNING IN THESE GUYS. I FEEL THEY'RE A GREAT OPTION FOR MODERATE DISTANCES AND IDEAL FOR THE TRACK. THEY GIVE YOU A BIT MORE STRUCTURE THAN A TYPICAL RACING FLAT, WHICH IS SOMETHING I TEND TO LOOK FOR IN A SNEAKER WORN FOR SPEED. I LIKE TO FEEL SECURE RATHER THAN FREE RIDING. NIKE SUGGEST THEY'RE GOOD FOR ALL DISTANCES, HOWEVER, EVEN THE MARATHON.

WITH FLYWIRE ASSISTED LACING AND ENGINEERED MESH UPPERS, THEY SURE SCREAM CLEAN LINES AND MODERN CHARACTERISTICS. I'VE BEEN RUNNING LONGER DISTANCES IN THE LUNAREPIC FLYKNIT 2'S, SO TRYING THESE WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISING. BOTH SHOES SHARE IN SOFTNESS AND RESPONSIVENESS, SO ROTATING THEM PER WORKOUTS ISN'T SO SHOCKING.

I WOULD SAY TRY GIVING THESE A GO, IF YOU'RE CURIOUS. SO FAR I'VE RAN A FEW 5 MILERS AND COMPLETED A SPEED WORKOUT ON THE TREADMILL (THANKS STELLA). SO FAR, I'M LOVING THEM. I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED ANY ARCH DISCOMFORT OR ANY OTHER ODDITIES WHILE TRYING THESE OUT. THEY'RE AVAILABLE IN FOUR COLORS. I WENT WITH ALUMINUM/WHITE/MEDIUM BLUE/BLACK.

THINGS TO NOTE*

  • SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT
  • INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE/CUSHIONED
  • BEST FOR MODERATE DISTANCES, TRACK
  • I BOUGHT MY NORMAL SIZE, EVEN THOUGH THEY FELT A BIT LARGE IN THE TOE BOX. I HAD TRIED A HALF SIZE SMALLER AND THEY WERE TOO TIGHT. IF YOU EXPERIENCE THIS, I BELIEVE IT'S BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN OF THE SHOE. AFTER RUNNING IN THEM, I REALIZED THEY WERE JUST THE RIGHT SIZE.
  • MY FEET WERE A BIT COLD RUNNING OUTSIDE IN TEMPS BELOW 30 DEGREES. AFTER ALL, THEY'RE MADE OF MESH SO THAT'S TO BE EXPECTED
  • THE LACES SEEM SO EXTRA LONG (I KNOW THIS MAY SOUND A BIT SILLY BUT IT'S ONE OF MY PEP PEEVES!)
