SUNSET RUN

EVERY TIME I LACE UP MY SNEAKERS AND HEAD OUT FOR A RUN, I FIRST THINK OF CHICAGO, THEN OF BOSTON. I'M IN THE PREPARATION PHASE OF CHICAGO MARATHON TRAINING AND WITH THE END GOAL OF A BQ QUALIFYING TIME, IT'S HARD TO THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE BUT RUNNING FAST. A GOOD MINUTE FASTER THAN MY BEST MARATHON PACE, TO BE MORE SPECIFIC. WHICH MIGHT AS WELL BE AN ETERNITY IN RUNNING. IT'S AS CLICHE AS IT GETS, BUT EVERY SECOND COUNTS. AND THE LAST PLACE I WANT TO BE COME OCTOBER, IS FINISHING THE MARATHON A MINUTE, EVEN A FEW SECONDS SHORT OF THAT QUALIFYING TIME.

SO NOW'S THE TIME TO PUT IN THE WORK. OVER PREPARE SO THERE'S NO SURPRISES.  I'M ORGANIZING MY SCHEDULE NOW TO ENSURE EVERY AREA OF TRAINING IS COVERED. STRENGTH (MENTAL AND PHYSICAL), STABILITY, MOBILITY, DISTANCE, AND ENDURANCE. SO IF ALL ELSE FAILS, I KNOW I TRIED. IT'S EXCITING AND SCARY BUT I AM MORE THAN READY FOR THE CHALLENGE. AND WITH BEAUTIFUL SUNSET RUNS LIKE LAST NIGHT, MY THOUGHTS ARE A LESS CROWDED WITH THE STRESSES OF TRAINING AND FILLED WITH THE BEAUTY OF WHAT'S AROUND ME.
