24 HRS IN HUDSON
Last week I was able to escape to Hudson, New York for a quick mid-week recharge. My sweet cousin Mella invited me to stay with her while on location for work. Hudson is roughly 2 hours from the New York City and naturally exudes that easy country charm one craves after too many days in the land of concrete. It's an easy getaway if you're looking for a quiet couple of days. Mella and her crew were staying at Rivertown Lodge, right in the midst of town. The hotel is artfully curated with just enough details. All in all it's a simple stay where you'll feel like you've crashed a Wes Anderson set. I was delighted to re-charge my batteries mid-week and get some much needed quiet. However, time spent laughing the night away with my cousin was definitely the highlight of my stay.
I grabbed lunch at Grazin' Diner, a super friendly and sustainably sourced restaurant. I had a cup of chili and a strawberry shake which hit the spot on such a cold late winter day. I spent the rest of the afternoon walking around town, window shopping and relaxing at the lodge. After Mella's shoot wrapped, we got dinner at Food Studio with one of her coworkers, then went back to the lodge for lobby hangs with her crew.
