I HAD MYSELF A DAY

RIGHT NOW, I'M WORKING SEVERAL FREELANCE JOBS AND HAVE MORE FREE TIME THAN I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH. I DECIDED THAT I WAS GOING TO PICK A DAY THIS WEEK AND HAVE A DAY FOR MYSELF. I CHOSE THURSDAY BECAUSE THE MET'S COSTUME EXHIBIT HONORING REI KAWAKUBO AND COMME DES GARCONS OPENED TO THE PUBLIC. SO I HAD MY OWN FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, MINUS CAMERON AND SLOAN, AND VENTURED TO MY FAVORITE PLACES IN THE CITY. IT WAS QUITE A DAY FULL OF INSPIRATION, ICE CREAM AND GOOD OLE NEW YORK.

STARTED MY DAY TAKING A STROLL THROUGH CENTRAL PARK.

I STOPPED FOR A SCONE AT LE PAIN QUOTIDIEN ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE PARK AND HEADED UP 5TH STRAIGHT TO THE MET FOR THE EXHIBIT. I WAITED IN A SHORT LINE OF TOURISTS AND FINALLY CONTINUED ON TO THE SHOW.

THE EXHIBIT WAS PASSIONATE AND POWERFUL. I'VE ALWAYS ADMIRED ARTISTS LIKE REI WHO ARE CAPABLE OF SUCH MOVEMENT AND IMPRESSION WITHIN AN INDUSTRY. IT WAS INSPIRING TO SEE MEDIUMS INTENDED FOR DIFFERENT PURPOSES AND TO SEE GARMENTS AS SHAPES AND TEXTURES. IF YOU'RE IN NEW YORK AT ANY POINT FROM NOW UNTIL SEPTEMBER, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SEEING THE SHOW.

AFTER THE COMME DES GARCONS EXHIBIT, I WENT UP TO THE GARDEN ROOFTOP TO GAIN A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE AND SOME VITAMIN D. I SAT UP THERE FOR A BIT, NIBBLING ON THE REMAINS OF MY SCONE AND STARING OUT AT THE BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF THE CITY.

I COULD GET LOST IN THE MET FOR DAYS AND BE PERFECTLY HAPPY. BUT IT WAS TIME TO MOVE ONTO SOME OF MY OTHER FAVORITES SO I HEADED FOR THE 86TH ST. SUBWAY AND CONTINUED DOWNTOWN.
FROM THE TOP ~ GRAPEFRUIT SORBET, BANANA PUDDING, AND MISO PEANUT BUTTER IN A MATCHA WAFFLE CONE.

SINCE THIS DAY WAS ABOUT DOING ALL OF THE THINGS THAT MAKE MY HEART SMILE, A VISIT TO ODDFELLOWS WAS A MUST. IT WOULD BE HARD TO CHOOSE JUST ONE OF MY MY MOST FAVORITE PLACES, BUT THIS ICE CREAM PARLOUR RANKS PRETTY CLOSE TO BEING #1.

AFTER MY TRIPLE SCOOP, I NEEDED TO WALK A BIT. SO I HEADED TO SOHO TO CHECK OUT A COUPLE OF STORES AND ULTIMATELY MEET ONE OF MY BESTIES FOR DINNER AND DRINKS AT GALLI.
NIKE LAB, A ROUTINE STOP WHEN IN SOHO.

NIKE LAB, A ROUTINE STOP WHEN IN SOHO.

WHENEVER I'M IN SOHO, A VISIT TO NIKE LAB IS NECESSARY. IT'S MY FAVORITE NIKE STORE IN NEW YORK AND WAS THE PERFECT PLACE TO KILL A LITTLE TIME BEFORE MEETING EMILEE FOR DINNER.

IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THE CHANGE AND UNKOWN THAT'S HAPPENING IN MY LIFE, I NEEDED A DAY LIKE THURSDAY TO KEEP ME GOING. IT REMINDED ME OF ALL THE THINGS I LOVE AND INSPIRED ME TO CONTINUE MOVING FORWARD. I'M ALWAYS GRATEFUL I CAN FIND THE TIME TO DO (AND EAT) THE THINGS I LOVE.
